The Bolton Estate includes approximately 1300 acres of dedicated woodland and 300 acres of designated ‘Ancient Woodland’. Excellent larch is grown here, including some boat grade larch which was used on Her Majesty’s recently refurbished Royal Barge.
The Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Lords of Bolton were all avid foresters and keen proponents of Sycamore which, thanks to their endeavours, is still flourishing on the estate. The current emphasis is on planting native broadleaves and the woodland management is centred more on conservation and habitat creation than commercial forestry. If you are interested in buying timber either standing or felled, please contact us. We are also able to supply English Walnut gun stock blanks, figured and pippy Yew suitable for turning and a limited supply of outstanding oak suitable for furniture making.
